December 23rd Deadline Extended One More Day

The Affordable Care Act rollout has been comprised of many important dates - March 23, 2010 (President Obama signed the law), June 28, 2012 (the Supreme Court upheld the law) and July 22, 2013 (Gov. Quinn signed the Illinois Medicaid Expansion) - to name a few.

tools at your fingertips Today marks another one of those momentous dates. If people sign up for coverage in the federal marketplace today (with a fail-safe extension through 11:59 pm on Dec. 24th), they can begin to receive covered health services on January 1, 2014. Over one million consumers have already visited healthcare.gov today to meet this deadline.

We know there have been glitches and bumps along the road, but the relief people feel once they get coveredis unmatchable. Read our blog for a few stories from Navigators in Illinois who are helping people enroll. We expect these stories to multiply as open enrollment continues through March 31, 2014.

We've also added some features throughout our website to help you more easily find information and resources. The right panel now has a handy list of links to some key pages ("Tools at Your Fingertips"), and lower down we have one-click navigation to resources grouped by our key topics ("Browse by Topic").If you have downtime during the holidays, check out some of the new site offerings such as our Data Matters andACA for Lawyers pages.

And from everyone at the Illinois Health Matters team, best wishes for a happy, healthy New Year!
