October Launch and Beyond
October was a whirlwind, with the Affordable Care Act (or "Obamacare") going into full swing. Illinois launched three new web portals for the new healthcare options:
While Healthcare.gov may need a "reboot," the boots on the ground in Illinois - Navigators and Certified Application Counselors - are working in full force to educate the 1.6 million uninsured residents here about expanded Medicaid and guaranteed issue private insurance in the Marketplace.Certified enrollment specialists from Carbondale to Waukegan are conducting health fairs, information sessions and meeting with clients,who are eager to learn more and enroll by March 31, 2014.
Meanwhile, we've made some improvements to our website. You can now see all ourlanguage resources in one place, or refer toprevious newsletters. We also launched a private network, called HelpHub, where enrollment specialists can ask technical questions, share stories and contact counterparts from across the state. We're already over 800 members strong - so stay tuned for some early enrollment experiences from Illinois.
