Let the Games Begin!

Key contracts to initiate the "air game" and the "ground game" in health reform implementation in Illinois were signed in July.

The "air game" is the massive public relations effort that the state will be embarking on this Summer to inform the public about the new health insurance marketplace. A contract was awarded to PR firm, Fleishman Hillard, to run that campaign.

The "ground game" consists literally of hundreds of In Person Assisters, employed by 44 agencies across the state, who will help people enroll into new public and private health insurance options, beginning on October 1. Contracts with those agencies are being finalized while training for some assisters has already begun.

Also, let's not forget - the Medicaid Expansion bill (SB26) was signed into law by Governor Quinn last week. Now all of those Assisters can begin educating their community members -- including the lowest income residents -- about new affordable health insurance options.

Check out the new Kaiser Family Foundation cartoon video on our homepage describing how all of this fits together. And let the games begin!
